De-Clutter/De-Personalize Your Home:
Clutter can be very uninviting. It can give the feel that the home is not cared for. Since you will be moving any ways, it is okay to reduce the amount of belongings in the home and pull back on the amount of sentimental items that you have.
- Remove excessive furniture to open up the room - stow away what you can do without for a while and ensure that the home looks more open.
- Limit the amount of pictures and decorations on the walls, tables, and shelves. This will allow the buyer to more easily imagine the potential of the home.
- Store collectables and important items. If it means alot to you, Do Not risk losing it, put it away for safekeeping.
- Make sure that there is no tripping hazards on stairs and landings.
- Remove and hide messy electrical cords from sight.
- Be sensitive to perfume smells such as wax melts. Some can be an acquired taste.
- Keep it simple. Everyone's taste differs! The more neutral the living areas are the more potential that can be seen.
- Make sure that houseplants are presentable and healthy.
- Garages should be organized and cleaned up to reduce musty and overwhelming smells; keep cars in the garage if possible.

Refresh and Repair:
No matter the circumstance, homes get dirty or somewhat run down over time. Natural wear and tear occurs in our everyday lives whether intended or not.
- Repair holes, cracks, and scuffs in the walls.
- Apply a fresh coat of paint to the walls. If possible, keep it simple and neutral colors.
- Check to make sure all light fixtures are properly working and cleaned out. No dust, burned out light bulbs, or bugs!
- Make sure cabinet doors and other hardware are in proper working condition and clean.
- Make sure all remotes/openers that come with the home are in working condition.
Deep Clean the Home:
The hardest thing for a buyer to do is get past the dirt in a home. Make sure to keep up on the cleaning throughout the process of showing.
- Keep dishes put up, kitchen counters and the stove wiped down.
- No visible dirt on the floor; have the carpets professionally cleaned.
- Bedrooms should be picked up. Clothes should not be visible whether they be clean or dirty.
- Keep bathroom counters, sink and tub clean, keep the toilet lid down.
- Try to reduce the amount of rugs in the house. They can make a space look smaller.
- Keep cleaning supplies under the sinks and out of sight.
- Make sure to organize the closet so it is presentable and not cluttered or over flowing if opened.
- Be aware of the smell throughout the home. Try to maintain a clean fresh smell without it being too overpowering.
- Keep glass doors, mirrors, and tables clean; especially the front door as this is the first impression of the home.
-Clean up all the baseboards of any dust.
-Clean up after pets daily to include scooping litter boxes and cleaning up pet hair.
The outside of the home when you first pull up is the buyer's first impression of your home. If the exterior looks ragged or run down, and the yard is unkempt, buyers will have a hard time getting past that first impression no matter how nice the inside of the house may be. Same goes with the back yard. This is one of the last impressions of a home, so you want to make sure it is easy on the eyes and at the very least easy to see the potential for landscaping.

- Replace old and worn out handles, kick boards, and door knobs with new ones.
